NBA ROOKIE OF THE YEAR WINNERS LIST

The NBA Rookie of the Year (otherwise referred to as the ‘ROY’) is awarded to the best first year player in the NBA during the regular season and has been given to the best young NBA talent since the 1952-53 season.

The NBA Rookie of the Year trophy is named the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy after former Philadelphia coach.

The Rookie of the Year (ROY) is voted for by a panel of Canadian and United States sportswriters and broadcasters, each casting a 5, 3, 1 vote.

Of all NBA ROY winners, 21 were #1 draft picks, while Patrick Ewing, Pau Gasol and Kyrie Irving are the sole winners born outside of the United States.
